Hi, I’m Michelle Roberts, a BACP-accredited counsellor.
About me
A little about me

I’ve spent the last eighteen years working in the NHS, largely with people facing cancer and other life-limiting illness, and Elmwood is the private practice I’ve long wanted to offer. The NHS work taught me what good counselling can do. Elmwood is where I can offer the same work with more time, more privacy, and the slower pace that some of it needs.
I work integratively, which means I draw on a range of therapeutic models and shape each session around you rather than working from a single fixed method. The work I do covers individual counselling for adults navigating anxiety, low mood, stress, trauma, grief, and life transitions, couples counselling for partners working through something together, and specialist support for people affected by cancer or other life-limiting conditions, as well as the families walking alongside them.
I’m a BACP-accredited counsellor with a postgraduate diploma in integrative counselling and psychotherapy, and I’m in ongoing supervision as required by my professional body. What I aim to offer is a calm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where what you bring is taken seriously, where you set the pace, and where you can feel less alone with whatever you’re carrying. If you’re considering counselling, you’re welcome to get in touch with any questions, or to arrange a first session where we can explore what you’re looking for and whether working together feels right for you.
